Outing to Lye Huat Garden, Changlun Kedah

I would like to share our outing to Lye Huat garden last weekend with my family. This private garden I believe owned by Mr Lye Huat, hehe :). Now its open to public at RM7 only for adult and RM 3 for children..It was a different experience coming to this garden plus zoo..we felt like we were in China..it was so peaceful and so private..not many people..

it is situated near Changlun town in Kedah. I found it's website which I guess not up to date (the ticket now is cheaper) but you can see type of garden that are available there..

so just want u guys to enjoy the picture taken there..

at the entrance

the crazyness and cheerfulness

look at this beautiful pond..love it

me n the pond as the background

we can feed the Koi fish there, there were thousands of them and they look so hungry..they swim on top of another to get the food.

walking along the path provided to go to other part of the garden. It has big fish pond, art gallery, aquarium, wildlife zoo, the antics vase and other historical item gallery, the terracotta soldiers corner and others :)

when i look at this picture, I will feel like we were in China..i guess good job done in a small town like Changlun..it looks so international quality garden..

us in front of one of the gallery hall

All and all, my family was happy that day, despite the hot weather. The garden is well maintain except for the zoo part. well, match with the ticket price..If you plan to go here, make sure you bring umbrella as there are not much of big trees to shade you..and bring your own drinks as no one selling anything inside the park..

so..jum Cuti Cuti Malaysia! ngeee

Baby Rejects Solid Foods

Sara has been breastfeeding since birth..and she loves it so much :) . She doesn't even want to take BM(breast milk) from bottle..so I need to breastfeed her regularly even during office hour!..

So now she is 12 months old..and yet she refuse to eat anything other than BM..and few snacks like biscuits, fruits like mango, banana and others in super tiny amount. She did not behave like this last 2 months..she eat porridge regularly 2 times a day and other snacks and of course BM..so this condition worries me. Plus now she is getting more active and she is not as chubby as before..become thinner and thinner which worries me more.

I did some reading here and there..what I can conclude is don't give up..I need to try more variety type of food.Active babies like Sara need more fat..

What I got from http://www.kellymom.com :

"Some toddlers are eating very few solids, or even no solids, at 12 months. This is not unusual and really depends on your child - there is quite a big variation. We like to see breastmilk making up the majority (around 75%) of baby's diet at 12 months. Some babies will be taking more solids by 12 months, but others will still be exclusively or almost-exclusively breastfed at this point. It is normal for baby to keep breastmilk as the primary part of his diet up until 18 months or even longer. An example of a nice gradual increase in solids would be 25% solids at 12 months, 50% solids at 18 months, and 80% solids at 24 months.

Some children take a little longer to begin taking solids well. Some of them have food sensitivities and this may be their body's way of protecting them until their digestive system can handle more. Others are late teethers or have a lot of difficulty with teething pain. At this point there is NOTHING that your milk lacks that your child needs, with the possible exception of enough iron. As long as his iron levels are within acceptable levels and when he does eat you are offering him foods naturally rich in iron, then you have plenty of time before you need to worry about the amount of solids he's getting.

All you need to do is to continue to offer foods. Don't worry if he's not interested or takes very small amounts. Your only true responsibility is what you offer, when you offer it and how you offer it, not whether or not he eats it. That has to be up to him. Trying to force, coax, or cajole your child into eating is never recommended. Continue to nurse on demand, day and night, and trust your child to increase the solids when he's ready. As baby slowly moves into eating more solids, your milk will fill any nutritional gaps nicely."

The statement there was such a relief, so I know that Sara is not behaving unusual..So I will keep trying and trying until one date I hope Sara will eat normally like other toddler.

Other useful tips that I found are 17 Tips for Pleasing Picky Eater, taken from Dr Sears website: http://www.askdrsears.com/html/3/T030800.asp. Good tips there for reference to first time mommy like me.

Hope Sara will take more solid food gradually sooner or later and me as usual will keep look for options to give the best for Her as other mommy will do for her child.

Last time I used to read more often compared to now..obviously because the little cutie that I have now..so sleeping at night is the time to rebuild the energy for tomorrow..so most of the time I choose sleep in stead of reading :)..

But this weekend, my hubby brought me to the BookXcess shop in Amcorp Mall, PJ...This shop sells new books at super low price..I bought 2 hardcover books for only RM 44.80..Irepeat..hardcover books...so cheap rite! So I picked The book of tomorrow by Cecelia Ahern and The Lucky One by Nicholas Spark..

I don't know how they can sell this cheap, but yes all paperback novel in this shop will cost u about RM17.90 and now they are having their sale where we can find book as low as RM1..so no excuse not buying and read one...you can also find them on their official website at http://www.bookxcess.com/ or facebook at http://www.facebook.com/BookXcess or twitter at http://twitter.com/#!/bookxcess or read their blog at http://bookxcessblog.com/

Sara Birthday Escapee

For Sara birthday, we did not plan for a birthday bash..we had our little escape just 3 of us..to have our quiet Sara birthday celebration..we chose the Land Below the Wind..Sabah..

We spent just 3 days there..taking advantage of Labour day holiday...flight was a bit delayed due to 2 passenger suddenly decided not to board on the flight. Following the policy, they have to take out the luggage from the cargo..so took like 1/2 hour for that..Sara crying now and then..boring...too small space..sorry dear..mama & abah cannot afford Business class !

We reached Sabah at 3 sumting..took a cab to the hotel..have a rest..then at 6..we go out for food hunting..we walked along the waterfront to the night market (opposite Filipino Market)..bought some ole-ole for family and friends..for DInner..we bought grill seafood at the stalls behind the Filipino market

The next day we decided to go to Lok Kawi Wildlife Park..it is a zoo..taxi fare to go there is RM120! the taxi driver waited until we finished touring the zoo as it is hard to get taxi there..the place is a bit secluded..the entrance fee was Rm10 for each adult and RM 2 for the tram ride..

Actually we intended to expose Sara to see the animals there..but she seemed to love the tram ride rather than the animals..she fall asleep after 40 minutes we are there..so we decided to go back to the hotel..

But just when we reach hotel, she woke up..so we take a turn to Suria Sabah..the latest shopping complex which was right opposite our hotel..as that day was her birthday, so we treat her to play with the games at the arcade..she was so happy..her face glow! I bought her a new toy which is like a car simulator..she likes it so much...just like her dad who loves car super much!

Sunset was so nice there..we grab the chance to snap few pictures during the sunset..it was really a postcard picture..so serene and beautiful.. and later that night, we went for seafood dinner at Anjung Senja..the taxi driver recommended the place..taxi fare was RM20 one way and the driver teman us for dinner :)...the seafood there was so fresh and cheap!..i enjoy my Ketam so much..so my husband...the cooking also not bad..it was a satisfying dinner indeed!..

Beautiful Sunday morning..I woke up happily knowing that we are going to the Gaya sunday market which is just a walking distance from my hotel..after breakfast, we went there..there are so many things sold there..from households..house deco..even cats and chicks! I bought few tshirts for my nanny kids and also pearl bracelet for her..

To kill time that we still have before our flight..we head to Tanjung Aru beach..we did not bring any swimming wear..so just let Sara to test the sand and the water..she was afraid to sand..so funny to see her face when the sand stick to her skin..but water as usual..she love it..

The water was not what clean..maybe because it is a public beach..but suprisingly, not many people were there...maybe because KK is located by the sea...so people are bored with sea..

We head home that afternoon, flight back was ok..Sara slept 2 hours in the flight..and play with her new toys..few..thank God!...

In summary, Sabah to me is a peaceful place to visit..feel like time flies slower, nice friendly people and good seafood place..maybe when Sara is big enough I will like to go Island hopping, visit Kundasang the Kinabalu park, take a bath at Poring hot spring..take a dinner cruise and so much more exciting activities..but for now, what we had in Sabah is fun enough..we had happy priceless memories together..with the persons I love the most..

~~She turned 1~~

Sara turned 1 on 30th Apr 2011..it has been a year..how fast time flies..I can still remember her face when she looked at me after she popped out from my womb..she look straight into my eyes...a little beautiful creature Allah gave me..Alhamdullilah

1 year raising Sara, I've been tested with so many challenges...breastfeeding her is a big challenge..I can't go travel frequently as I love to do before...I can't go out with friends as I did before..I have to let go a high pay interesting job as I need to go n feed her during lunch...but Allah is always fair..being with her everyday give thousands of happiness to us two..and my family too..I can't imagine my day without her...

Happy Birthday Sayang Mama..Mama doakan Sara jadi anak yg taat pada AllaH, Mama & Abah, smart kid and Insan yg berguna to Islam and country..I will cherish forever & a day as your mom..love..
